Boat Basketball
No. of Players: 4 or more
Equipment: Inflatable boat, suitable soft ball (eg. beach ball/ tennis ball)
How to play:
1. Choose 2 teams and spread out over game area Inflatable boat is positioned in the middle of the games area.
2. Each team is aiming to score points by landing the ball in the boat (goal).
3. The team with control of the ball (Team A) is allowed to shoot for goal after 3 or more passes to players.
4. If the ball stays in the boat, a point is awarded toTeam A. Control is then passed to Team B.
5. Alternatively, if Team A misses or the ball bounces out of the boat, control is still passed to Team B.
6. The opposing team can intercept at any time to gain control of the ball.
7. If game is played in a pool, and ball goes onto the side, a player from the opposing team collects it and now has control. He/she must however throw it into play from the spot it was picked up. That throw is counted as that team's first pass meaning they only have to pass 2 more times before they can shoot for goal.
Two Player Version
1. Each player has a starting point to stand at (eg backs on opposite pool walls). The boat is placed between them.
2. The controlling player shoots and scores a point if the ball stays in the boat. Control is then passed to the other player.
3. If he/she misses both players may leave their stations and attempt to get the ball. Whoever touches the ball first gets a free shot at goal from that point.
4. If playing in a pool and the ball goes onto the side at any time in the game, the other player collects the ball and gets a free shot at goal from the collection spot.
5. Once a point is scored, the players return to their original positions and the other player has control of the ball.
